Really good book - I loved that it was a different type of fantasy, unlike any other book I have read before. As a 12 year old boy I really related to Jacks daydreaming at school and that most of the adults don't understand him!! The book was a welcome change from my school reading and really kept me hooked over the school holidays. If you like a creative and funny fantasy novel unlike any you have read before then Conductoid is the book for you!!!

The difference between the "possible" and "impossible" is but two small letters. Lehane's spellbinding children's fantasy novel cleverly conveys powerful themes such as the importance of self belief and loyalty, messages subtly interwoven between the heart-stopping action and hi-jinks. The author is clearly at the top of his game in this perfect book for tweens.
I'm a children's book fan. I love the brilliant imaginative qualities of children's literature and the suspension of reality. Who doesn't have a favorite children's book? Conductoid was a pleasure to read. For me it was the characters Jack and Phoebe, the Dibbles, the stony Azan, and the array of eccentric teachers that stole the show. I can see them leaving indelible children's memories.
A lot of kids are going to love this book. What child doesn't want his daydreams to come true? What child doesn't want to live near the best candy shop in the world? (I remember wanting my parents to own that shop.) Who doesn't want to save lives and take on school bullies in the one day? When you add to all that Lehane's skillfully crafted and hilarious narration, Conductoid is a sure fire winner with kids.
In an era of wizards, zombies and dragons, I found it refreshing to enter a different world of a daydreaming boy and his gifted twin sister. A cross between Katniss Everdeen and Anne of Green Gables, Phoebe was my daughters favorite. Funny, warm and highly imaginative, M.B, Lehane's novel has appeal well beyond a middle school audience.
"It's amazing what you can see when you close your eyes." Conductoid ropes you in from the first line. But, you don't want to close your eyes. The magic of Lehane's prose kept me reading this absorbing story of a daydreaming boy and his precocious twin sister into the wee hours of the night. There is such a wonderful contrast between the intensity of the dream sequences and the twin's funny - make that hilarious - school life. This is not just a book for kids.
Gee, where do I start? First and foremost, I loved this book. Conductoid has some similarity to Harry Potter and Percy Jackson - a troubled boy with special powers in a world that doesn't understand him. However, within those plot standards, the author uses wit and humour to power the story. A laugh is never far away as you are propelled through Jack and Phoebes' adventures. M.B. Lehane obviously believes nothing is impossible, and by the end of Conductoid, he brings you around.
Wonderfully written and beautifully tied in at the end. Both my 9 year old daughter and 12 year old son loved this book. My daughter's particular favourites were the feisty Phoebe and the fast talking Skye. I have to agree, the girls get some of the best scenes and wittiest lines. For my son it was all about the action and humour. From a parents perspective, I thought the author did a fantastic job of creating an intriguing plot with great messages about loyalty, perseverance and believing in your dreams. An excellent read for the young and the young at heart.
